Peckham Style will bring together the most exciting existing and emerging fashion talent in and from the area, showcasing brilliance to London’s wider fashion community.

Peckham Style is a fashion event with a difference. The designers are all proud of their links to Peckham and South London and have been selected as exponents of entrepreneurial design, some emerging designers and some established; the common bond is a sense of belonging in Peckham and the local area. Local Artist Jade Chorkularb will be creating a site specific artwork to illuminate the event and has also created a film to accompany the show.

This is a fashion show with a purpose. Designers, stylists and tailors have been serving the community with traditional and avant-garde outfits for decades. Dynamic young creatives continue to flock to Peckham, working from newly built studios or on kitchen tables, drawn to the area by both its history and potential. The concept, is a collaboration between local CIC Illuminated Arts and artist Jade Chorkularb and was created in response to Southwark Council’s “Peckham is Open” initiative, designed to revive the commerce in Peckham’s local retail sector, following extensive road closures during the past year, that seriously affected local businesses.

Illuminated Arts partners with Southampton Solent University’s Events team to design and execute the makeup and Cahoona’s Hair Hub based in Peckham Levels to create hair styling for the event.

Internationally renowned Nigerian/British designer Samson Soboye will be creating garments specifically for the show. He is bringing his expertise as a fashion and catwalk stylist and head stylist for African Fashion Week, assisted by gIRLS aBOUT pECKHAM’s Natalie Worgs to guide emerging designers through presenting their catwalk collections.
