Geraldine makes jewellery considering the materials used and their context in another place.
Her interest in the history of jewellery coupled with the themes displayed through it and how they appear in different cultures have been the source of her ideas.
Her latest collection uses seeds for what they symbolise and their visual quality. Seeds being prolific and of low value here are made into high value materials by comparison and questions their importance.
‘A day job in admin and the need for an artistic antidote led me to an evening class in jewellery making which I loved. Eventually realising that this could be an interesting career I quit my job to study at Camberwell College of Arts and went on to gain a degree in Jewellery from Middlesex University.
After years of experience in the jewellery industry making collections and commissions as well as repairs I had thoughts of a venture of my own.
I finally found a great workshop at Peckham Levels to expand on my ideas alongside providing a jewellery repair service.’
