Intoart is an art and design studio based in South London working inclusively with people with learning disabilities.
We work with adults and young people with learning, physical and sensory disabilities and those on the Autistic Spectrum.
Intoart continues to be led by its co-founders who set up the organisation in 2001 on leaving art college, committed to bring about change in response to the lack of opportunity to high quality arts education and opportunities for and by people with learning disabilities.
Our vision is for people with learning disabilities to be visible, equal and established artists.
Our programme includes the following activity:
Intoart Art Studio
Weekly art studio sessions focused on learning skills and long-term commitment to progressions as artists
Intoart Design Studio
Unique design studio run inclusively by people with learning disabilities focused on design practice spanning illustration, product design, print, textiles, ceramics and fashion.
Intoart exhibitions and public events
Showcasing the breadth and quality of the work by Intoart artists in group and solo exhibitions. Exhibitions include Whitechapel Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, Poetry Library Southbank Centre, Tate, Peckham Platform, and internationally at Texture Museum, Belgium.
Solo Artist Programmes
Solo Artists projects support the progression of artists beyond the studio to design, develop and realise their own artistic programmes. Recent artists include Mawuena Kattah and Ntiense Eno Amooquaye developing ambitious bodies of new work.
Intoart Young people and Mentoring
Practice Makes programme with schools is a pioneering model of artist mentoring by Intoart artists with learning disabilities working with young people with learning disabilities.
