Workshop exploring self-expression through intuitive collage making.
Hosted by visual artist Mary O’Neill, in this guided collage workshop we will use images and intuition to create a self portrait that captures our essence and energy, rather than just what we look like.
You are encouraged to bring a personal object or piece of material that feels connected to you to put into your collage: a photograph, an old train ticket, a note, a piece of fabric or even a sweet wrapper.
We’ll explore what a portrait of the self might look like when we move beyond the physical, using meditation and our intuition to translate this into visual art.
We begin with a meditation to tune in to this inner world, exploring what arises when we consider who we are and how we can express this creatively. We’ll then have an opportunity to share what comes up with the group, creating a space to witness one another.
Then we will move into collaging, where you’ll use images, words and textures from vintage magazines to create a piece of art that reflects who you are.
You’ll leave with your own finished collage to take home.
What to expect:
Short meditation to tune-in to our inner world and energy
Guided collage-making session, expressing our essence
Reflective prompts and no-pressure opportunities to share experiences with pairs/ group
No artistic experience is needed. This space is for anyone curious about creative expression, whether you’re beginning to explore or deepening an existing practice.
All materials will be provided, using pre-loved magazines and books sourced from the British Heart Foundation. A 10% donation from each ticket goes to BHF.
