EMMELINE PRESENTS: ESS SESSIONS

Space: The Gig Space, Level 5

ESS SESSIONS: EMMELINE/EAVES WILDER/SEREN/HALLE CASZ/ISSA ODYSSEA/FIZA + DJ BABY GUINNESS
The community showcase of up-and-coming talent from women and non-binary people in music returns to Peckham Levels.
Spoken word artist and alternative hip-hop performer Emmeline set up ESS Sessions in 2024, as a community night for female and non-binary musicians to showcase their skills, and discuss their experience of the industry. Emerging out of those conversations was the overwhelming need for a space in London where people could come together to create and perform, whilst being adequately supported. ESS Sessions at Peckham Levels is the group’s first live foray, and will feature performances from 7 up-and-coming musicians and DJs, with a strong interactive and community-driven focus.
Join us for some amazing music going late into the night, and to support a great cause.
Emmeline is a singer/songwriter originally from West Yorkshire now living in London, making spoken word and alternative hip-hop. She initially caught the attention of super producer Fraser T Smith (Stormzy, Adele, Dave), and had since gone on to release 3 projects, most recently her mixtape 'Shapes, Shadows, DVDs' with Lewis Recordings. In the past two years she has opened for The Streets, as well as playing Brighton's The Great Escape, and will in 2025 be heading to Austin for SXSW. Her blend of lyrical mastery with sharp delivery, and unique genre focus has gained her over 200 plays on UK Radio, including a live session with BBC Introducing's Emily Pilbeam, and interviews with other champions like Lauren Laverne and Cerys Matthews.
Eaves Wilder began songwriting around the age of eight, harnessing an early obsession with 60s soul and jangle pop, and the reverb soaked landscapes of Lush and The Cocteau Twins. Wilder’s inspirations are endless, but it was the riot grrl movement that first blew the doors open for her, proving what was possible if she could just write with honesty and power, letting her supposed imperfections shine. “Hookey,” Wilder’s forthcoming debut EP, details her story so far. Hidden behind dreamy shoegaze guitars and delivered in Wilder’s sweet voice, her lyrics are honest, direct, and deceptively cutting.
Seren is a young artist with an undeniable voice and a gift for songwriting. Her music takes inspiration from the best of soul and folk music, infused with a love of storytelling and a keen ear for melody. At its heat her music celebrates the simple joys and complicated vulnerabilities of our ordinary lives. Seren is already making a name for herself as a talented singer and songwriter. In her short career so far she has performed at venues such as Koko Camden and The Other Songs x Ivors Academy night at The London Palladium, created music for the Mastercard X Brit Awards advert and signed her first publishing deal at the start of 2024.
Halle Casz is an 18 year old alternative pop artist from London. Her music consists of a fusion of pop, dance and R&B with lyrics that encapsulate the experience of young women in today’s society. Creating music with upcoming producer Cassell Beats, Halle Casz transforms her poignant lyrics into danceable records. Halle Casz began her creative journey performing in several professional television and theatre productions before honing her creativity into being an artist. Halle Casz made her debut performance at 229 London in Great Portland Street for In The Making presents Inside Track Live. Halle Casz has a unique performance style combining her creative abilities with music, dance and filmmaking.
Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, ISSA ODYSSEA is a London based singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist. Rooted in poetic lyricism, with influences of alternative R&B, lofi and indie soul sonics, her songs are layered with distinctively emotive vocal melodies and genre-bending production. Since her debut project in 2019, she’s released a high quality catalogue of songs, as well as directed and produced her own visuals, revealing her unique vision and creativity. Over the past few years, ISSA’s been establishing her place on the live music scene; performing at iconic venues across the city whilst writing and recording new music. Calling it her favourite work to date, she’s set to release her sophomore EP in spring 2025.
FIZA:
FIZA, a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from North West London, is making waves with her emotionally resonant vocals, intricate guitar work, and heartfelt lyrics. After gaining recognition through a Sofar Sounds session in Edinburgh, she has performed in cities across the UK and beyond, including London, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. FIZA is also a regular performer at Sofar Sounds London, further solidifying her presence in the live music scene.
Her debut single, Pieces, was named BBC Introducing Radio Scotland’s Track of the Week, with hosts Phoebe Inglis-Holmes and Shereen Cutty predicting great things for her. The track was also featured on BBC Asian Network, with many calling her a rising star.
FIZA has supported Skinny Pelembe on tour, played at the Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh Hogmanay First Footing, and even collaborated with AllSaints for a special London Fashion Week performance. Her talent has earned praise from Right Chord Music, Podcart Music Blog, and The Vinyl District, who named her UK Artist of the Week for her "velvet" voice and a melody that could “melt butter.”
+ DJ Baby Guinness:
Join us for a night of incredible independent music. Don't sleep on booking tickets!

Inspired by time spent purposefully outside of music industry pressures and timelines, and following more natural urges, Andrea will be creating a space where it's ok to be joyful; ok to be angry - embracing both to find harmony in the difference. This is about what's necessary for resilience in being an artist in London today. Come and step inside, and let’s use winter to gather, feel and move together.
She'll be performing with a live band featuring some of the leading lights from the new London jazz scene and brand-new music alongside tunes from And Is Phi’s Twice Blushed EP featuring remixes and re-imaginings of her songs by the likes of Hector Plimmer, Wonky Logic, Marysia Osu, and Footshooter.

Every story needs a scene, a landscape, an environment; all things Andrea visualises when writing songs. During her time in London she has worked with Steam Down, Footshooter, Scrimshire, Hector Plimmer and collaborated with so many more in the arts and music scene.
Her debut album Double Pink was released by Albert’s Favourites on 22nd September 2023, since then she’s taken her powerful live show around the UK including stand-out appearances at We Out Here, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival and Stroud Jazz Festival.

An unmissable line-up of some of the most exciting players, beatmakers and selectors on the London jazz scene for what promises to be a fascinating night of forward-facing music of the highest quality.
Kaidi Akinnibi:
From South London, up-and-coming saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi has already worked with an eclectic variety of artists including the likes of Tom Misch, Black Midi, Blue Lab Beats & Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory. A standout member of London’s creative, vibrant jazz scene.
Although his fluent and thoughtful playing is rooted in the classic jazz genres, growing up in South London and learning from the Kinetika Bloco and the Jazz Warriors families, Kaidi has always had a multi-faceted outlook on music. His own music is, as he puts it “more vocal orientated, taking its influence from a broad base of electronica, jazz and classical music to create soundscapes reminiscent of movie soundtracks”. Though still in his early 20’s, Kaidi is already making his presence strongly felt on London’s vibrant, creative jazz scene.
Lidstrom Lipere feat. Rudi Creswick:
Tilé “DVo’ Gichigi and Axel Kaner-Lidstrom share a long music history, from the early days of the London jazz scene to collaborating on two albums with heavy-hitters, Cykada. During this time the two of them spoke of launching a duo project countless times.
Good things come to those who wait.
This project is an expression of their friendship, their love of music that makes your face screw up, and surrendering to wild and free improvisations, following the inner voice to revel in the beauty of the moment.
Barrell Jones (DJ):
Barrel Jones is a talented drummer known for his dynamic performances with jazz saxophonist Nubya Garcia and genre-blending artist Obongjayar. Beyond his drumming career, Barrel has made a name for himself in South London’s nightlife scene, curating a series of vibrant club nights. When he’s behind the decks as a DJ, he guarantees an electric atmosphere, turning every night into an unforgettable party.

In 2019, Misty returned to performing under her own name, resurrected and renewed. Now releasing music independently, she has recently released her latest single, Too Heavy. Though she has chosen a path away from the mainstream, Misty remains a respected figure within her local music community, known for her authenticity and unwavering dedication to her craft.

Club InFiné: Lucie Antunes + Basile3 + Deena Abdelwahed + LYAM
InFiné invites you to the latest edition of their international label night! Join us for a showcase of avant-garde club music, diverse emerging talents, and all things InFiné.
Our headliners this time are Tunisian experimentalist, producer and DJ Deena Abdelwahed, French composer, percussionist, and producer Lucie Antunes and Brussels-based experimental bedroom producer Basile3. All three projects represent the exciting genre-leaping soundscapes that InFiné has been cultivating for more than 15 years. Join us for a night of sonic experiences brought to you by one of the pioneering French labels of eclectic genre-spanning experimental music.
Having cut her teeth in Tunis, first in a jazz band and then on the local electronic scene, Deena Abdelwahed moved to France in 2016 and signed to Parisian label InFiné. With her first two albums Khonnar (2018) and Jbal Rrsas (2023) – she chartered unknown sonic territories in the hinterland between Arabo-Tunisian music and electronic club. In doing so, she tore up the rulebooks of all three genres, thereby proclaiming the birth of a new creative order.
Profoundly political and in search of emancipation, her music challenges and pushes the boundaries between techno, bass and experimental music to conjure new shapes and reimagine Arab dance music.
Versatile Brussels-based electronic music producer Basile3 (as well as frequent collaborator with labelmates like Deena Abdelwahed and Sabrina Bellaouel) released his debut album on May 31, 2024 on InFiné. Blending euphoric synths and intricate textures with hybrid club music DNA, he shares an intimate and intricate take on contemporary electronic and pop music.
Lucie Antunes is coming off the heels of her critically acclaimed second album Carnaval. Already lauded in France, Antunes unites the pop world with the avant-garde, with a crossover appeal that traverses genres and borders with ease. Her live shows are an infectious and joyous display of club music with an organic sensibility.
Signed to Warp Publishing, LYAM is one of British alternative rap’s most mysterious and elusive artists, returning now in summer 2024 after a four-year album hiatus with show stopping mixtape The Art Of Letting Go, with features from friends and associates like John Glacier and Wiki and production from likes of Mura Masa and Jeshi Universal Credit producers ineedsound.
