Our regular night to showcase work from the cutting edge of London's underground performance and art scene is back for another beautiful, messy and full-throated season of entertainment.
Don’t miss the all-singing, sometime-dancing, spirited chaos of Midgitte Bardot and some special guests from the worlds of Live Art, dance, drag, music, and radical hoo-ha.
Midgitte - the hilarious, subversive drag alter-ego of the supremely talented performance artist Tamm Reynolds - has been performing across the UK cabaret, live art, drag, theatre and club spaces since 2016. Midgitte Bardot’s Personal Spot is an evening of drag, performance art, radical weird stuff, liberation from today’s costly world, and a place for performance to buffer and polish.
The show is Midgitte attempting to find herself whilst entertaining you most of the while. Then acts from the city and beyond (amusing you, titillating some, confounding and shaking others to their core).
Co-curator and Host: Midgitte Bardot
Co-curator and Producer: Willy Amott
Thursday 22 May line-up:
It may be our second season, but the team at Midgitte Bardot’s Personal Spot is still all about bringing you serious talent. Nothing sophomoric about this lot. You’re in for a good one.
SAMRA MAYANJA
Samra Mayanja is an artist-writer obsessed with language, humour, and the illegibility of the body. She is interested in the residue from translations between writing, drawing, film, and performance. Her practice is heavily supported by the instability of these translations and how the limits of each medium give life to the next. Samra’s performances blend physical theatre, sexy-gone-sour slapstick, and poetic monologues, often featuring tender vocal improvisations honed through work with experimental ensembles.
She has performed and exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and theatres, including Cambridge Junction, The Oval, Centre for Live Art in Yorkshire, Somerset House, Tetley (Leeds), MAMA (Rotterdam), Kampnagel (Hamburg), Transmediale (Berlin) and LIVE Biennale (Vancouver). Samra writes weekly on her Substack P3RFORMANC3 PRINC3SS.
SELINA BONELLI
selina is a neurodiverse non binary artist currently exploring abandoned post-conflict architecture through performance and sound. They often work with found objects and hand me downs and is interested in how our bodies make sense of things that are unspeakable, uncommunicable.
They explore the spaces outside of language by expanding on a listening through what touch could be to uncover the resonances trapped in ruins, utterances and hauntings.
" i will not have the words for a type of loss that is so distant it is intimate." ALOK from funeral in Femme in Public.
CYRO
Cyro is a punk vocalist, drag king/thing and trans powerhouse who brings strength, beauty and awareness to the stage. Cyro roots his work in the LGBTQIA+ community and draws from queer ancestors within his practice.
